Contemporary Ode Poem Examples

It is particularly a hot day for the wintertime and crimson sky at the behest of the blazing Sun looks beautiful. I sit on a wicker hub deck chair enjoying a refreshing drink near the rooftop pool overlooking the stretch of greenery, a cold breeze lifting the mood even further, instilling enjoyment and a happy state of being blessed. Life seems beautifully poised like an expansive beach, with the rhythm of crackling waves mimicking the joy of going through wonderful ode poem examples.

I’m reading a book with a collection of odes, which are nothing but a form of lyrical verse. Old times saw the rise of several notable ode writers, but perhaps the best odes came in the 19th century, penned by none other than Keats. These include ‘Ode to a Nightingale,’ ‘Ode on a Grecian Urn,’ ‘Ode on Melancholy,’ ‘To Autumn,’ and ‘Ode to Psyche.’ However, after Keats, history has witnessed comparatively few major odes in English, which dwindled even further in this 21st century.

Odes are unique as they glorify an event or an individual, making a lucid connection between high ends of intellectual and emotional endeavors. The layout depends on the writer’s choice.

Passionate poem lovers can hardly ignore the odes and if they do, that means missing out on a genre that is sweet, tender, elaborative, and imaginative.

The following are two best contemporary ode poem examples that poetry lovers can read and enjoy, and even recite in their literary classes.

An Ode on the View of Field from the Train!

Ever noticed farmers working with sickle in the field while being seated in a train. Well, here is a great chance to notice and appreciate the scenic beauty, and to get lost in the sheer simplicity!

Adieu! Adieu! Where is my heart?

Still throbbing hard, but there it also walks like a peasant –

Drowsily with a fatigued soul on the cart

Along an unknown path – making air more rich and pleasant

With the dust of the field and rustic voice.

While on course, it saw women testing sickles on crops

Of wheat and pouring forth some haunting music,

Unfortunately subdued by the train’s noise!

A glimpse, well perceived, of sweat so salty in drops

May be cipher, but for a true heart made terrific!

An Ode to the Love Bawling at Gate!

ode-example-image

Seems you are in love with…and like being loved…emotions stirring you in two halves, then it might be the right time for the Love Bawling at Gate!

Merrily, merrily, gleefully, gleefully, seasons change,

But are merited good or worse by the worldly mortal;

Sorrows follow happy moments and then interchange,

But see how perceptions so precisely slice out fatal

Differences! For some, ghost persists

And some call it else – who knows what may haunt

This precious life; the soothsayer says, glories await,

But at some cost! What sits

Next? Well, who cares to batter and haunt

For unknown bays than the love bawling at gate!
