When I Was a Child, But Now My Kid: A Little Story
When I was a child, my thoughts were wild! I found butterflies on even roads, a glimpse rare and mild these days. This is the power of progress we are seeing. So many species extinct and so many on edge. Butterflies are no exception too.
Once upon a time, butterflies were common and seen in courtyards, but, alas, the same is not true anymore. Butterflies are struggling to find courtyards. As an adult, often I get lost in thoughts about butterflies.
I have seen so many butterflies and reached out to so many to have a closer look but never caught it. My mother would often tell me not to capture them because they are so delicate. And until today, I never stopped being fascinated about them.
However, I feel sorry that my own son remains aloof. However, all hope is not lost. Post the COVID era, we saw little visitors hovering over the money plant pots. I was so excited.
I yelled, ‘Look kiddo. Look there…hurry up. That is a wonderful butterfly.’
My little kid was also quite happy to see such colorful butterflies. After that, there have been around 20-30 visits in the last 2.5 years, each equally wonderful and colorful. The big deal is that me and my son both cherished the glimpse together.
Butterfly took my pain away,
Made in heart, a happy way!
I am happy, so is my kid,
But sad too, it isn’t a frequent bid!
